The Best Free Legal Streaming Android Apps
Jan 09 2020
Here at Rveal we are kind of Android fanatics. We have used the Android operating system since we released our first streaming media player in 2013. We have always touted how open Android is and how easy it is to use. One of the best parts of having an Android based streaming media player is the amount of apps that are available to use. In this article we will highlight some of the best free legal streaming apps for 2019.
While this is a pretty solid list, it is in no way a complete list. Just about every channel and news station has an app that you can install and stream their videos from.
IMPORTANT - WE HAVE NO AFFILIATION WITH THE DEVELOPERS OF ANY OF THESE APPS. THE CONTENT AND FUNCTIONALITY OF THESE APPS FALL SOLELY ON THE APPS DEVELOPER. WE CANNOT AND DO NOT TROUBLESHOOT OTHER PEOPLES APPLICATIONS!
If an application listed is not working properly please contact the apps developer directly as we have no way to fix their application.
Crackle
Crackle is a video streaming app owned by Sony. It has a wide variety of TV Shows and Movies that all stream for free with no subscription or login. Crackle does have ads within the videos.
TubiTV
TubiTV is a fairly new free video streaming app. It has a wide selection of Movies and TV Shows. It has what it has. While it does not have every movie or TV show, it offers a wide selection to choose from and is completely free. This app does contain ads.
SnagFilms
SnagFilms offers a wide variety of films that mostly fall into the documentary genre. It has a wide variety of different content within this genre. Everything is free but the app does contain ads.
SPB TV
SPB TV offers free viewing of over 170 channels from all over the world. These may not be the most popular channels that you are familiar with. But we bet you will find some really cool channels to watch. This app contains ads.
NewsON
NewsOn provides streams for most of the local news stations around the US. It may not provide your favorite one. But if you are looking to stream your local news this is a great app. The user interface can take a little bit to get used to, but it's a great app once you get the hang of it!
Pro Tip - Go into settings and change the video quality to HD if you have a fast internet connection.
PBS Kids
PBS Kids is a must have app if you have children in your household. It is completely free and has tons of great content for children!
PBS VIDEO
PBS VIDEO is a great video streaming app for adults and the whole family. There is a lot of high quality content in this streaming app. The writer of this article watches a lot of PBS as it is educational and entertaining.
CBS
CBS is one of the few major cable networks that releases a large amount of its content to be able to be streamed for free. While a lot of content is free within this app, a good amount also requires you to sign in using your cable providers login info. What this means is that some of the content is locked unless you are paying for a cable subscription. A live feed of CBS is not available without a cable subscription and there are still ads in the free content.
NBC
The NBC App works almost exactly the same as the CBS app. While a lot of content is free within this app, a good amount also requires you to sign in using your cable providers login info. What this means is that some of the content is locked unless you are paying for a cable subscription. A live feed of NBC is not available without a cable subscription and there are still ads in the free content.
The CW
The CW app is a great app for everything CW. We applaud the CW for making all of this content free regardless of if you have a cable subscription or not. Bravo CW!
Discovery Channel Family of Channels
The Discovery network has created an individual app for each of its channels. All of these apps look and work the same. Similar to some of the other big network streaming apps, Discoveries apps give you some content for free and some is locked behind having a subscription to cable. But with the amount of apps that they currently have you will have plenty of content to stay entertained for a long time.

Red Bull TV
Who would have thought that an energy drink company would have their own streaming app? Welcome to 2018 :) Actually Red Bull TV has been around for quite awhile. I guess they figured that since they sponsor so many extreme athletes and events they might as well record tons of awesome content and let people stream it. It's a really cool app with some great content.
Free TV Shows App
The Free TV Shows App is a little different then any of the other apps in this list. This app is what we would call a data aggregator. What it basically does is find links to TV Shows, News and Movies from the websites that create them. For example if you click on a news channel it will connect you to that stations website page with the live stream. Long story short it finds legitimate content from the legitimate source and links your device up to the site to stream it. It may take a little while to get used to it, but once you do there is a ton of content.
So there you have it, roughly 16 awesome apps where you can stream countless hours of content for a total cost of $0.00! We would highly suggest logging into the Android App store and installing some or all of these great apps. These apps make cutting the cord so much easier!!! Stream On!!!
Rveal has made a reasonable assumption that all of these applications are legal as they are in the official Google Play App Store. However we are not lawyers and we have no relationship with these apps nor do we profit in any from these applications. All legal responsibilities fall on the application developer!
